How much time is required?
Members are encouraged to attend meetings and participate in club events. We realise that this will vary from member to member depending on your life style and other commitments. Where possible, members are requested to attend 50% of club meetings but participation is seen as more important than meeting attendance.
You can also attend another clubs meeting and that counts towards your club meeting attendance.
If you’re not able to attend meetings for a period of time, don’t worry since a leave of absence can be applied for through the club board.
There is a fee for membership of Rotary International, which covers for club membership, District membership, insurance and a subscription to Rotary Down Under monthly magazine. The current fee is $220 per year, paid in two instalments (January and July).
Members usually have a meal at the meeting but this is optional, and is a payment of $20 that goes straight to the hotel to cover food costs.
Members who choose not to have a meal contribute $2 a meeting.
The process of joining
Firstly come along to a few meetings and / or participate at our events to get a feel for us and see if this way of contributing to the community fits with what you are looking for and your lifestyle and commitments.
The club will invite you to join and ask you to fill in a club membership form and complete a National Police Check (this is free for volunteer organisations) because of our projects with the general public.
Bring your family and friends along to your induction night where you will be formally welcomed into the club.
When and where do we meet?
We meet on Monday evenings, 6pm for a 6.30pm start at the Commodore on the Park, Mount Gambier. Meetings are usually finished by about 8pm.
